About Rachael

I believe that therapy is only as good as the relationship between a client and therapist. Thus, it is my goal to get to know every client on a deeper level in order to foster a solid, healthy, therapeutic relationship that can provide one with opportunities to learn, be challenged, feel supported, and grow. Because each client is different, with different needs and values, I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, with an emphasis on Feminist Relational Theory. All clients bring with them strengths and resiliency and it is my goal to help them recognize their own power and strengths through collaborative exploration.

Clinical Background

My clinical training and work have provided me with the opportunities to work with clients across the lifespan with a variety of presenting issues. I am passionate about working with individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, specializing in working with Transgender/Gender Variant clients. In addition, I am a certified domestic violence counselor and have worked with survivors of violence from all backgrounds, and gender identities.

About Ethan

The world can be a frightening, difficult place, and we all need a safe place where we can feel seen, valued, and appreciated for who we are. My practice is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a client-centered base. I believe that a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of all change. I have and still do work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and with diverse presenting concerns.

I focus primarily on working with children and adolescents, using play and geek therapy. My other focus is LGBTQIA clients, with an emphasis on gender issues. As a trans man, I find myself in a somewhat unique position to provide competent, compassionate, understanding care to those who identify as trans or gender diverse.

My approach emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. My ideal client would be someone in the LGBTQIA community, struggling with difficult thoughts or emotions, experiencing difficult life circumstances, wanting to process past traumas or explore their gender/sexuality.

Clinical Background

I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from The Illinois  School of Professional Psychology (ISPP) at Argosy University in 2018. I have received intensive training in Rogerian Client Centered therapy as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and specific training working with gender diverse clients. I find my work with gender-diverse youths to be some of the most rewarding. I have worked in diverse settings and with clients of all ages, focusing on work with queer clients. Additionally, I endeavor to learn continuously about the systems and power structures we live within and how they impact our functioning and identity.

About Jena

I view the therapeutic relationship as a partnership and find the relational aspect of therapy to be an integral piece in making strides towards meeting client’s needs and goals. Confronting the difficulties and pain in life is often challenging and uncomfortable—as such I strive to create a safe space for my clients to process authentically. I know each client is unique and work to meet the client where they are, with empathy, humor, support, challenge, and encouragement throughout our journey together. Balancing direct feedback with empathy and understanding are the cornerstones of how I conduct therapy.

In creating a safe and supportive space, I utilize interventions from a variety of therapeutic frameworks in order to meet the needs of my clients individually. I pull from attachment and dynamic theories as well as feminist/relational theories to help clients process and understand themselves on a deeper, more fulfilling level.

As a queer-identified therapist, I can uniquely understand the complexities of questioning one’s sexual identity. As such, helping clients navigate the process of acceptance, owning, and loving oneself, through compassion, care, and support in sessions are integral to exploring this aspect of identity.

About Rachael

Therapy can be awkward and uncomfortable. Being curious and open about our pains is not an easy task, which is why it is important to feel comfortable with the therapist you work with. The relationship between therapist and client is fundamental to creating a safer space in which this exploration can occur. My goal as a therapist is to support clients in using their strengths to stay curious and willing to work towards their goals for a fulfilling life. It’s not always easy, but the benefits of self-understanding and acceptance, growth, and empowerment can help us in creating a life that reflects our values and aspirations.

Clinical Background

I completed my Master’s and PsyD in Clinical Psychology with the University of Indianapolis in 2020 and 2023, respectively. I maintained a generalist track throughout my training, gaining experience with adolescents and adults in various settings including correctional facilities, college counseling centers, and private practices. I am excited to be completing my post-doctoral work specializing with the queer, non-monogamous, and kink communities, as this is where my passion lies. I hope to eventually become certified with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) as a Certified Sex Therapist and Sex Educator.
