About Ethan
The world can be a frightening, difficult place, and we all need a safe place where we can feel seen, valued, and appreciated for who we are. My practice is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a client-centered base. I believe that a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of all change. I have and still do work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and with diverse presenting concerns.
I focus primarily on working with children and adolescents, using play and geek therapy. My other focus is LGBTQIA clients, with an emphasis on gender issues. As a trans man, I find myself in a somewhat unique position to provide competent, compassionate, understanding care to those who identify as trans or gender diverse.
My approach emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. My ideal client would be someone in the LGBTQIA community, struggling with difficult thoughts or emotions, experiencing difficult life circumstances, wanting to process past traumas or explore their gender/sexuality.
Clinical Background
I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP) at Argosy University in 2018. I have received intensive training in Rogerian Client Centered therapy as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as specific training working with gender diverse clients. I find my work with gender-diverse youths to be some of the most rewarding. I have worked in diverse settings and with clients of all ages, focusing on work with queer clients. Additionally, I endeavor to learn continuously about the systems and power structures we live within and how they impact our functioning and identity.
