About Myk

It’s no secret that life can be difficult, and these difficulties are influenced by everything all around us, who we are, what we look like, what language we speak, what neighborhood we live in, and how we engage in our free time (if we even have time for that anymore). Relationships, learning, parenting, and life changes all come with a series of challenges that can be navigated to foster a sense of empowerment and internal strength. In my view, the therapy space is a wonderful, albeit not always easy, place to explore, process, and sit with those feelings and difficulties. My goal is to help you better understand and identify your strengths and how to use them to navigate your world. That way, as future experiences occur, you can have the
confidence and resources necessary to manage whatever it is life puts on your path.

Myk is under the supervision of Drs. Jena Catania and Rachael Sytsma-Ramos.

Clinical Background

I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (2020) as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2024) from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Although most of my coursework came from a generalist framework, much of my training and internship experience was focused on children and adolescents. I have worked in group practices, hospital settings, schools, and community health centers, and have had opportunities to share time and space with a myriad of individuals in a variety of settings and situations. I have also provided services in English and Spanish. I have training in various play-based interventions (such as Therapeutic use of TTRPGs) and strive to create an environment that fosters exploration and experimentation (with a healthy dose of imagination). I recognize that as a Cis-heterosexual presenting white man, my experiences of queerness (did not come out until late in life), non-monogamy (married for over a decade), kink (informed, but wouldn’t consider myself a master yet), and neurodiversity (ADHD) are likely very different from others within these various communities. As such, I have put effort through reading, training, and connecting with people who share those identities to broaden my understanding of lived experiences and meaning.
