Tonight Drs. Sytsma-Ramos and Stark volunteered at the Ready, Tech, Go! event hosted by Jane Stenson Elementary's PTA. It was a wonderfully informative event that educated families about youth technology and social media behaviors, the impact social media and tech use have on mental health, and ways to have age appropriate conversations and boundaries about internet safety.
We were so happy to connect with so many families and engage with the community!

We're excited to announce that our team is growing! 🎉
Meet Myk Merrill, PsyD, our newest Postdoctoral Fellow! Myk will begin seeing clients on May 1st and is accepting new clients for individual therapy and testing cases. He is in-network with Aetna, BCBS, and Cigna PPO plans and offers Pay What You Can arrangements for under- or uninsured clients. He sees clients remotely and at our Skokie location.
Myk's clinical interests include working with LGBTQIA2SA+ clients throughout the lifespan (children through adulthood), non-monogamy and Kink-identified clients, and Men's issues. Myk offers services in English and Spanish and practices from a Liberation and Feminist frameworks.

This is not a post I wanted to make, nor thought I

This is not a post I wanted to make, nor thought I would have to make, but here we go.
My clinicians and I are being doxxed by a self-proclaimed conservative Christian clinician in Texas whose mission is to stop trans and gender diverse people from accessing affirming care and transitioning. Sadly, we are not the only ones being targeted and doxxed.
This person is focusing on providers who practice within Texas, and because I am PsyPact certified, she is now focusing her attention on my team and me.
Unsurprisingly, X(Twitter) is doing nothing about the reported posts despite the fact she is committing defamation against people, calling them "groomers" and "alienators." All of this is meant to cause direct harm to providers and their clients.
It's shocking, yet unsurprising, that this is happening now in the age of Trump 2.0. Being targeted and treated this way is nothing new to me, the people I work with, or my team.
I wanted to share this because
1) Our visibility matters and is so very important (now more than ever)
2) I will not sit idly by while people are being hurt, and I have started to take action.
3) Let our colleagues and communities know that we will not go back into the closet, discontinue this work, or stop supporting you!
4) Encourage you to take action. There is so much in the world we cannot control right now. It's hard to know what to do or where to direct your energy. But within this story, there are some small steps you can take to support your values and community.

We are pleased to announce that Drs. Rachael Sytsma-Ramos and Rachael Stedman are now accredited through PSYPACT to practice Telepsychology in approved PSYPACT states!
This allows us to provide care to queer and gender-diverse folx in many states where access to an affirming, competent, and knowledgeable provider can be lacking.
We are excited to broaden our reach and help our communities in more areas of the country we wouldn't have been able to before this legislation.

I went to Argosy University to better my life and become a psychologist. While I value my education and time there, I was scammed and manipulated. Fraud was committed, and I'm a victim of a crime perpetrated on a massive scale by over 150 schools across the country. As Senator Dick Durbin from Illinois said, the federal government was at least complacent if not complicit in what happened to us. The government needs to do right by these thousands of students buried under an unmanageable amount of debt, many of whom cannot use the degree they earned. I count myself lucky amongst my peers in this group. But not lucky enough to stop fighting!
