About Laura
I am a bilingual therapist, from Puerto Rico, with a passion for serving LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships, as well as immigrant populations. I believe that therapy often reflects the complexity inherent in life and it brings me joy to learn about and with my clients as we move through that complexity together. Therapy can be life-changing and filled with magic. It is an honor to work collaboratively with clients to discover where their magic comes from and how they can make use of it to face the world. This journey can be challenging and weird. As your therapist, I strive to be authentic, emotionally attuned, and empowering and to help create the space for you to find the vulnerability and trust it requires to embark on this journey.
Outside of therapy, you will find me exploring coffee shops, botanical gardens, and plant shops. I very much enjoy music, films and gastronomy. Although my singing talent is very scarce, I love a good karaoke session with 2000 gems. I also value humor in my professional and personal interactions; I think it redistributes power in an intentional way.
Clinical Background
I completed a Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Albizu University, located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Prior to this degree, I graduated from Universidad de Puerto Rico, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. I completed a professional certification in LGBTQ+ Community Issues and have collaborated in different community-based programs to gain experience, professional competencies, and the sensitivity to work with diverse populations. In the past year, I have been focusing on my postdoctoral experience, which has included training about in-depth psychotherapy and the therapeutic work with the queer, kink and poly community.
